In the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Dragon is one of the most auspicious times to be born. It comes with wealth, success, confidence, and tenacity. It is such a powerful belief in the culture that birth rates often increase during dragon years. Dragon Baby Farm was born 6 months after our real life Dragon baby was born. With this name we have chosen to honor both our daughter and highlight our mixed cultural heritage.
Our farm sits in the mountains of Western North Carolina. We're a family homestead rooted in permaculture, herbal medicine, and the desire to share multi-cultural food with our community. We believe in permaculture practices, sustainability, and organic production. However, more importantly, we believe in doing the best thing for our land and animals. Ducks swim in a natural pond that is supplemented with aerators to help build pond health. We do not till but we do broadfork new garden beds to not disturb existing soil microbiome.
We currently have two markets that we plan to attend for the remainder of the season and on select days: Milltown Market in Canton and Haywood Historic Market in Waynesville. Our duck eggs are sold year round at Christopher Farms in Waynesville and seasonally at Ten Acre Garden in Canton.
